Sailing conditions in Brittany

Light winds in the summer Force 2-4, although Spring is more variable with westerlies up to Force 6. This stretch of the coast has large tides (up to 11m at springs) and strong currents. This sailing area is ideal in May, June and September.

We have rated this destination a 'Level 3' (levels info) and you will need RYA Day Skipper or ICC qualification for bareboat charters in Brittany. You should be coastal skipper standard and have considerable skippering experience.

As an alternative, we also offer charters on the French Riviera (level 2-3). If you are at all unsure about a destination then please get in touch and our sales team will be more than happy to make their recommendations for you.

Getting There

Trains to Lorient

Eurostar to Paris Nord and TGV from Paris Montparnasse to Lorient (10 mins by taxi to port) or Auray (15 mins by taxi to La Trinite).

Self-drive

Many clients take their car by ferry to Brittany and drive to Lorient or La Trinite.
