Useful Information

The ideal time to visit Sweden for a yacht charter holiday is in the middle of Swedish summer; end of June to end of August. You will experience incredibly long days with lots of sunshine.

During the summer months the average temperatures in Sweden are around 20-22ºC on the water with sunshine but cooler evenings.

The Stockholm archipelago is made up of 30,000 islands so there is plenty to explore on a yacht charter in Sweden! Some highlights to include on your sailing holiday in Sweden are:

Sandhamm - mix of lively marina life and great sailing history.

Grinda - perfect for a relaxed stop with gorgeous views and swimming.

Moja - for a traditional and authentic fishing village feel.

Uto - for nature walks, hikes and great Swedish cafes.

During the short summer season of June, July & August the winds are Force 2-4 with calm sheltered waters within the archipelago. Summer temperatures around 22°C are similar to southern England but with a lot more hours of sunshine as the sun sets very late.

You can book marinas in Sweden and pay online via dockspot. Marina prices vary considerably depending on the time of year and the type of marina. There are also many options for anchorages in this area.

For bareboat charters in Sweden you will need RYA Day Skipper or ICC qualification.

Sweden is a fascinating country with many excellent attractions. Some things for you to do on a yacht charter in Sweden are:

Have a barbecue on the beach on a remote island in the archipelago.

Visit Fjaderholmarna for local seafood sandwiches.

Take in the impressive Vasa museum and the perfectly preserved 17th century ship.

Swim and snorkel at Nattaro marine nature reserve.

Visit Skansen, the world's oldest open-air museum.

Make use of a sauna boat for a treat your body with love!

Music lovers can visit the Abba museum.

Enjoy the traditional midsummer celebrations for the summer solstice.

The most common itinerary and sailing trip is for 7 days but with so many islands to explore there is a never-ending cruising ground and you can easily enjoy a 2 week charter in Sweden. During the summer months the days are much longer with only a few hours of darkness so much more time can be spent out on the water.

Sailing Itineraries for Sweden

The cost of your yacht charter depends on several factors:

Boat Type

The type and size of the yacht you book will dictate the price. A 1 week charter on a 2 - 3 cabin monohull starts around £1300 in low season whereas 1 week on a 5 cabin monohull with a skipper in high season could be upwards of £8000. These are the 2 extremes of the scale for a 1 week charter and we offer plenty of choices in between.

Charter duration

1 week is a popular choice amongst our sailors and makes the perfect getaway however, a longer charter will give you more time to explore all the islands of the Stockholm Archipelago.

Time of Year

Lower-priced yacht charters are available in the off-season of April, May, September and October with prices starting to rise in June before peaking in July and August.

Crew

Don't have any sailing experience? No problem! We offer skippered yacht charters in Sweden so you can choose the yacht that best suits your group and add a professional skipper to your charter so that you can enjoy the yachting lifestyle without the stress.
