Sailing Itineraries for Thailand

There are an abundance of fantastic things to do on a holiday in Thailand. A few of our suggestions of top things to do in Thailand are:

  • Enjoy a fish lunch at a floating fishing village with the locals of Koh Panji.
  • Reenact 'The Man with the Golden Gun' at James bond Island in Phang Nga Bay.
  • Visit Than Bok Khorani National Park and take the time ashore to explore the walking trails and beaches.
  • Enjoy swimming in one of the bright turquoise enclosed lagoons.

The wet season in Thailand is from May to October which brings hot humid weather and heavy rain.

The best time to visit Thailand is after the wet season from the end of October to the middle of April.

Prices vary massively in Thailand depending on which region you are in and if you visit the main tourist destinations or stick to more local areas. In general, the cost of living is relatively low. Tourism is a huge economy in Thailand and therefore prices have risen with its popularity however they still are comparatively less than the UK. If you choose a small local restaurant or street food vendor then you will expect to pay a very reasonable price for good local food.

For yacht charters in Thailand you will need a Day Skipper certificate and a VHF license. You will need to provide a sailing resume detailing charter experience in similar types of conditions to those of Thailand.

Temperatures in Thailand range from 25-30 degrees Celsius. You can expect a little rain, however January to April are the driest months of the year. March is the hottest month with average temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius and consistent sunshine. Sea temperatures are similar to the air temperature.

From November to April the predominant winds are from the north, north west and are typically Force 3-4. At the start of the wet season monsoon weather arrives. Thailand is tidal with a range up to 2m. There are local tidal currents.
